As a man who takes care of himself and his skin, you know that it’s one of the first parts of your body that can give away your age. Wrinkles, acne, and many other skincare problems can be avoided simply by watching the way you treat your body's largest organ.

Whether it be your “beauty guru” sister, mum looking out for you (bless her), or even a trip to the dermatologist - no matter where your interest in natural and organic skincare stems from, you may still not be aware that not all skincare is created equal.

That’s why we’ve put together a quick guide to the top most asked questions about organic skin care for men. We hope you’ll learn something new, and share the wealth with a bud or two.

1. Do men really need to have their own skincare? There’s of course the obvious difference between men’s skin and women’s skin - facial hair - but did you know that androgen action in men means that your skin is about 25% thicker than a woman’s? This is also the reason why your hair is coarser, curlier, and your skin tougher. Because of these differences, it’s important for men to use organic skincare with different formulations that target their specific skin structure.

2. What is the most common mistake men make with their skincare? Simply put - they don’t do anything. Splashing your face with water in the morning is not nearly enough to support healthy skin as your grow older. It certainly doesn’t have to be complicated though, all you need is a minimalistic skincare routine! Growing a beard? Make sure you’re using the right beard oil to stay clear from unwanted dandruff, dryness, and irritated skin.

3. What happens to a man’s skin as he ages? If you’re reading this on your phone in the presence of your girlfriend, you may want to turn your screen a little out of her sight because… men are actually much more “gifted” in the skin aging department than women are.

What does this mean exactly? Remember when we told you that your skin is 25% thicker than hers? That thicker skin and higher collagen levels means that you’re about 15 “skin” years behind a woman of the same age and will develop wrinkles at a much slower rate. Don’t get cocky though, increased exposure to the sun, not eating right, and not taking care of your skin can significantly speed up your skin’s age.

Best defence? Well… you know the rest...

4. Why should men care about “organic” skincare? Not only does using organic skincare support organic agriculture and local farming, but it also helps you stay clear from all the toxins present in common cosmetics. Fragrance, chemicals, and preservatives are just a few of the nasties you want to avoid if you’re after long lasting, healthy skin for the ages. These toxins can actually cause significant damage to your health, so pay specific attention to labels.

That’s all for now but we’re certainly not done yet… there are lots more to answer and we’ll be bringing it all to you in Part 2, so check back in a couple days. In the meantime, why not toss a share our way and look a whole lot smarter by posting this article on your social media channel of choice.
