Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s newest cinematic rendering of true events, The Revenant, chronicles the story of one of the most epic beardsman of the American frontier, Hugh Glass. Leo looks boldly feral in the new trailer released last week, sporting what is none other than a real life “bear trapper beard.” A new story in The Hollywood Reporter recounts the hellish filming of the film which is set to release December 25. It is said that the Birdman director had an actor dragged naked through the snow, orchestrated fight sequences in subzero conditions, and decided to shoot the film only using ONLY natural light, one of the most difficult and impractical tasks in large scale filmmaking. With only short windows of time to shoot everyday, weather challenges pushed the production run behind schedule and even actor Tom Hardy to forfeit his role in the upcoming Suicide Squad film.
Check out the trailer to The Revenant. Brace for fierce beardiness.
